A well-known Pangasinan political analyst asserts that the Filipino fishermen should be the ones benefitting from the West Philippine Sea.
In an exclusive interview by Bombo Radyo Dagupan, Mark Anthony Baliton, a known political analyst in Pangasinan, says that the West Philippine Sea is in the jurisdiction of the Philippines, so it is only right that the Filipinos benefit from it and not the Chinese.
Baliton also reiterates that the Philippines won in the territorial dispute, so the Chinese should not be allowed to claim the West Philippine Sea. He adds that the resources in that sea clearly belongs to the Filipino fishermen.
It was decided in 2016 by the arbitral tribunal in Hague, The Netherlands that EZZ belongs to the Philippines.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte declares that he is not prohibiting the Chinese from fishing the Economic Zone (EZZ) of the Philippines because they are our ‘friends’.
The President also repeatedly says that the Philippines is not in war with China because of firepower discrepancy, adding that he is not sending any troops to the disputed sea because it may just worsen the situation. int. of Bombo Frammy Sabado//Zona Libre Program
