National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon warned the parents to watch their kids and be extra cautious to whatever activities their children involved themselves with.

This was in relation to the report alleging that the New People’s Army (NPA) was continuously recruiting young people, students and out of school youth alike.

Acccording to Esperon, the rebel group was desperate to recruit new members because its number was continuously declining due to encounters with the government military and other factors.

The official added that the group was excellent in brainwashing, that’s why once the child was recruited, it would be very difficult for the parents to convince him to leave the group.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) that it was a part of the recruitment process to deceive the child by presenting him fake fieldtrip to the mountains. The rebel group would take advantage of the opportunity to win the child’s sympathy.
