Several councilors in Dagupan City were planning to formulate and pass a resolution to the Sangguniang Panglungsod.
This as confirmed by Liga ng mga Barangay President and Brgy Chairman Lino Fernandez.
In an exclusive interview by Bombo Radyo Dagupan, Fernandez said that the aid resolution would have something to do with the direct order of President Duterte to clean and remove any obstacles in the public roads that had been causing congestion.
According to Fernandez, he talked to Councilor Joey Tamayo and they both planned to formulate and pass a resolution wherein they would be given authority by the Sangguninang Panglungsod to conduct clearing operations.
He explained that they wanted to help Barangay officials, particularly the barangay captains in impose the president’s order.
Fernandez emphasized that he had started clearing operations in Brgy Lucao. He claimed that he removed the obstacles along the roadside, including ambulant vendors.
It can be recalled that on July 29, 2019, DILG released Memorandum Circular 2019-121 directing barangay officials to use their power to retrieve public roads, remove illegal structures and clean everything up. This included putting new signages and coming up with ways on how and where to relocate the displaced people.
Since the clean up drive of the public roads is a long and continuous process, it was also expected that the Department of Local Government (DILG) regional offices would submit weekly reports to the DILG Office of the Secretary within 60 days grace period. with reports from Bombo Cheryl Ann Cabrera
