It’s an old, old song.

This is what Nationals Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. said regarding the recently released record by the AFP showing that there were about 513 youngsters allegedly recruited by CPP-NPA from 1999 to 2019.

In an exclusive interview by Bombo Radyo Dagupan, Esperon said that the rebel group group had been doing recruitment in various ways, so the news was no longer new. He added that that there were other leftist groups who were targeting the students to become activists at a young age.

In fact, Esperon admitted, he himself witnessed the recruitment process when he was still a young boy. According to him, such groups were legal on those days that’s why the government was not worried about any leftist activities.

Earlier, AFP gave to Committee on Public Order chairman Senator Ronald Dela Rosa the record stating that the NPA was able to recruit 513 youngsters in three decades. Out of this number, 362 surrendered, 134 were captured and 17 were killed. with reports from Bombo Badz Agtalao
